Features and uses:
The
Thuja occidentalis Mr Bowling Ball, native to North America, is a dwarf conifera belonging to the cupressaceae family.
Its appearance reminds a soft green pillow, actually this dwarf conifera is a
perfectly rounded bush, just like a ball. It is formed by many semi-rigid branches arranged in scalar form, on which small,
intense, slightly aromatic green leaves grow.
Easy to maintain,
Thuja occ. Mr Bowling Ball (translated as "Bowling Ball Sign") does not require pruning, fertilization or plant protection treatments because
it is very resistant to disease.
Strongly tolerates rigid climates and warms that are not too excessive and favor a sunny or semi-shaded position.
There is no problem with the type of soil, the important thing is that it is
well drained, to avoid damaging water damages to the root system.
Interestingly, it is cultivated in pots, on the ground, as a single bush or together with other plants to make a mixed flower, for example with:
Chamaecyparis l. Sunkist,
Chamaecyparis p. Dwarf filip,
Juniperus c. Schlager,
Juniperus pfitz. Glauca,
Taxus b. Repandens,
Thuja Smaragd
