Features and uses:
The Vitex Agnus Castus can be defined as a small tree and as a large shrub. It belongs to the family of verbenaceae originated in Europe and Asia, and is often referred to as the vague name of "False Pepe" because of its small and black fruit that resembles peppercorns.
The leaves of Vitex Agnus Castus grow on thin, very branched, usually raised ups. The main features of the leaves are: be fallow, dark green, opaque, palmate and slightly wrinkled.
The fragrant flowers appear in the late spring, they are small flowers clustered in cobwebs, blue sky or pastel pink (there are also varieties of white flower and red flower) and attract many butterflies. The flowers follow the small black, rounded and slightly fleshy fruits that contain the seeds.
This shrub easily adapts to different types of soil, it tolerates sunny and semi-shaded positions, and if left on the ground, it needs little water. In the time it can reach 3-4 meters in height, but if the space is to contain the hair, some pruning can be done.
Thanks to the aromatic leaves, since ancient times, both medicine and herbal medicine are used, while its flexible stems are still employed today in making baskets or chairs.
In the gardens it is used with ornamental purpose: it can be planted isolated, as the only specimen of the green area, or in a boat along with other shrubs, which wisely combined will give rise to games of heights, colors and perfumes.
