Features and uses:

Nandina domestica is a native shrub from Asia, belonging to the berberidaceae family. Subsequently imported into Europe, it is particularly well-known for its vibrant winter colors.

The Nandina domestica is an evergreen bush that can grow up to 2 mt, and is presented with a dense vegetation consisting of thin lanceolate leaves, grouped in wide bushes that grow on thin barrels.

The leaves are dark green in the spring and summer seasons, while in the autumn winter they are colored with warm tones of yellow, orange and red, revitalizing the garden on gray and ugly days.

In the spring bloom many small white flowers, grouped in cobwebs, followed by autumn red berries, which remain on the plant until the next spring making it very ornamental.

The Nandina domestica takes a round, dense and compact bearing. Very rustic and robust, it is a shrub that reacts well in the cold winters, adapts to all types of soil, even if it prefers rich and well drained. It loves sunny and half shadows, but also lives in full shade, only will not produce a rich flowering or a lively coloration.

The Nandina home's optimum uses are many, including easy-to-maintain hedges, mixed flower beds, or as a single specimen in the center of a green lawn. Perfect in private gardens in Mediterranean style, classic, modern, formal or informal, as well as in public green areas where you need to make ornaments and keep maintenance costs down.
