Features and uses:

Forsythia Mikador® is a deciduous leaf shrub belonging to the Oleaceae family. This variety has recently been patented in France and has very interesting characteristics compared to the "classic" Forsythia ".

The rich flowering, especially if exposed to full sun, appears between March and April; the bright yellow petals of 4 petals completely cover the entire length of the branches. At the end of the flowering, the first bright green leaves will appear, with a lanceolate, smooth and fairly thin shape.

The particularity of this Mikador® variety is the compact growth and a dense growth of the branches; these two characteristics, together, create a bush with a rounded shape, often called "Forsythia nana", also excellent for small gardens.

For these reasons, the Forsythia Mikador® does not require pruning, but for those who want to correct the shape of the plant to their taste, it can make a light cut every 3 years or so. It will tolerate clayey and calcareous soils, but it is always important to avoid stagnation of water that could damage the root system.

Given the merits of this Forsythia Mikador®, we can say that it is perfect to include in landscaping projects of private and public green areas, for the realization of mixed flower beds, or to create small hedges and borders. Moreover, thanks to its small size and its elegant appearance, it lends itself very well even in vases and planters to furnish balconies and terraces.
