Features and uses:

The Washingtonia Robusta palm also called Californian Palm, belongs to the aracaceae family. It is native to Mexico and is born in semi-desert areas. His name is a tribute to the first president of the United States of America, George Washington.

Over time, this palm was also imported to Europe, where it is used for ornamental purposes. It is presented with a lonely stem that can reach as much as 30 mt, gray in the oldest part and reddish-brown in the youngest part. At the base the stem is wide, then sticks to the higher part.

The leaves are large and palmate, bright green color and the petiole present brown spines all over the length. In nature, the dry leaves cover the top of the stem, while in the groomed gardens the dry leaves are crushed.

The robust Washingtonia shows a white inflorescence and generally overflows the leaves, but the black globular fruits, gathered in large clusters, are more commonly known, which grow abundant and are used in the place of origin as fresh food or for making flour.

It demands sunbathing, tolerates arid and poor soils and demands a mild climate. Perfect for sea areas, can be planted individually or in groups in the garden or close to the other to create long boulevards. In the resort and spa park will surely give you the sense of paradise, beauty and well-being.
