Features and uses:
The
Miscanthus sinensis Kleine Silberspinne is an ornamental grass native to Japan and China, belonging to the Poaceae family.
Its height ranges from 0.80 to 1 m, it has an average growth and its
habit is erect. It prefers a
sunny position, but it also fits in mid-shadows and a
well-drained soil is recommended.
It is formed by a tuft of
very thin, linear leaves, variegated in green and creamy white. It is considered to be a leafy leaf, in fact, during the winter the long leaves dry, but they do not fall and also give a
fantastic show when they cover with ice.
It is advisable to cut these dried leaves in early March, with the arrival of the beautiful season. A garden scissor is sufficient and anyone can do it; this is the
only maintenance required by this plant.
Its inflorescence is an ear, typical of the
ornamental grasses of beige color, that when it opens it shows delicate silver reflections.
